The Jungle Reality Check:

  • How to identify what your personal "jungle" really looks like
  • The three ways life gets chaotic: camping, wandering, or crashing
  • Why clarity about your priorities is essential for entrepreneurship survival

5 Key Takeaways Crystal Promises:

  1. Accept the call in your life without guilt or overwhelm
  2. Increase your capacity for impact in all three areas
  3. Accelerate progress on your most important goals
  4. Discover resources and provisions to accomplish what God's called you to do
  5. Prevent burnout during times of transition or crisis

The Three Critical Questions Every Woman Entrepreneur Must Answer:

  1. What is your jungle? - Getting brutally honest about what's actually on your plate
  2. How did you get here? - Understanding whether you camped, wandered, or crashed into overwhelm
  3. What are your survival priorities? - Identifying the ONE essential thing in faith, family, and finances

Real Dangers Women Entrepreneurs Face:

  • Faith Threats: Drifting from God, worldly influences, identity crisis, isolation from Christian community
  • Family Risks: Neglecting relationships, role confusion, burnout and stress, lack of boundaries
  • Financial Hazards: Income instability, debt and overinvestment, underpricing services, legal and tax issues

Proven Solutions for Each Area:

Crystal provides specific, actionable strategies for protecting your faith (including daily non-negotiables), nurturing your family (including the power of weekly Sabbath), and stabilizing your finances (from emergency funds to confident pricing).

The Grace Factor:

Discover what it means to move through entrepreneurship and homeschooling with "ease and suppleness of movement"—experiencing divine assistance rather than grinding through each day in frustration and struggle.

Powerful Insights from This Episode:

"You were not built to carry all this weight alone. You'll only start to thrive when you acknowledge the great tasks you have received from God himself."

"The only true advice I can give you is to lean on the Lord. Ask yourself: Is this a moment I need to trust the Lord, or is this a moment where I need to be obedient?"

presentation from the Whole Hearted

Abundance Summit, hosted by Amy

Wicks of the Simply Hearted Podcast.

crystal's, encouraging talk called grace

in the jungle, thriving in faith, family,

7

:

and finances as a woman entrepreneur

8

:

intro: a fast growing number

of parents are starting their

9

:

homeschooling journey while others

have been homeschooling for years.

10

:

All of these parents are asking one big

question, how can I afford to homeschool?

11

:

We are here to answer that

important question once and for all.

12

:

Hi, I'm Crystal Obby.

13

:

And I'm Anthony Obby.

14

:

We've been homeschooling our five

kids for 13 years and we funded it.

15

:

Through our online consulting business

that we've been running for over 17

16

:

years now, we're combining Crystal's

financial coaching expertise with my

17

:

digital marketing background where I help

entrepreneurs launch and sell online.

18

:

We're here to help fellow homeschooling

parents self-fund their homeschool

19

:

journey and create lifestyle businesses.

20

five job, are you ready to start living

21

:

life on your own terms and make your

homeschooling experience a lot more fun?

22

:

Well then sit back, crank up

the volume, and enjoy this

23

:

episode of Homeschool Money.

24

:

As women entrepreneurs, we often feel like

we're navigating a wild jungle, balancing

25

:

faith, family, and finances, while facing

uncertainty, setbacks, and overwhelm.

26

:

But just like in any jungle, there's a way

to move with grace, strength, and divine

27

:

wisdom instead of feeling lost or stuck.

28

:

This talk will equip you with the mindset,

strategies and faith field principles

29

:

to thrive in every area of life.

30

:

There are five key takeaways I

want you to get from this talk.

31

:

Accept the call in your life.

32

:

Increase your capacity for impact,

accelerate your progress on your goals.

33

:

Discover resources and provisions to

accomplish your goals, and then of

34

:

course, prevent burnout, especially

during times of transition or crisis.

35

:

There are three top activities

we're gonna focus on.

36

:

Number one is gaining clarity

about your own personal jungle.

37

:

Number two is we're gonna create

a vision for walking and grace.

38

:

Number three, we're gonna build

confidence so that you can

39

:

thrive and not just survive.

40

:

My name is Crystal Obie and I'm the

co-founder of Life and Launches,

41

:

a direct response copy and launch

firm that helps coaches, course

42

:

creators, and entrepreneurs craft

high converting messaging and

43

:

marketing campaigns that drive sales.

44

:

I'm a certified Enneagram coach, have

a master's degree in life coaching and

45

:

mentoring, am a doctoral candidate and

am married to my college sweetheart.

46

:

Anthony and I have been married

23 years and we homeschool our

47

:

five kids in Dallas, Texas.

48

:

I included a picture here of us with our

five kids because today is family day and

49

:

a big deal for me was to have five kids.

50

:

Anthony and I both always wanted five

kids, and we ended up having to go through

51

:

nine pregnancies to get to our five kids.

52

:

We have four miscarriages and two

near death experiences, so family

53

:

is huge for us and I'm so glad to

be able to encourage you today.

54

:

Just in case you're wondering,

I'm an Enneagram eight and

55

:

Anthony is an Enneagram one.

56

:

Now.

57

:

I prayed and prepared for this message by

imagining what I would say to you if we

58

:

were sitting next to each other talking.

59

:

I considered my own goals and

life priorities and decisions

60

:

that I've had to make.

61

:

I prayed over a lot of scriptures that

have really helped me and played back

62

:

conversations that I've had with clients.

63

:

I thought about how one of my favorite

TV shows is called I Shouldn't Be Alive.

64

:

I just love watching

people overcome challenges.

65

:

There was this one episode where a guy

was lost in the jungle and it totally

66

:

seemed hopeless that he was gonna

make it out, but ultimately he did.

67

:

One day we watched a movie called

Jungle and it turned out to be

68

:

based on the same story that we

watched on I Shouldn't Be Alive.

69

:

And it was an incredible movie,

and I recommend you check it

70

:

out if you ever get a chance.

71

:

Now, women entrepreneurs face the

challenge of keeping our faith

72

:

strong, our family nurtured,

and our finances in order.

73

:

One of the definitions of a jungle is

a situation or place of bewildering

74

:

complexity or brutal competitiveness.

75

:

This definitely reminds me of being

a woman entrepreneur sometimes.

76

:

The first question I want you to ask

yourself today is, what is my jungle?

77

:

What exactly is on your plate?

78

:

Once you've asked the first

question of what is your jungle?

79

:

I want you to think about the second

question, which is, how did I get here?

80

:

crystal commercial 1: Hey, real

quick, if you're liking the show,

81

:

hit follow so you don't miss a single

episode and drop a five star rating

82

:

and a review to let us know that

you're loving the content and tell us

83

:

what topics you'd like us to cover.

84

:

This will help more people find

the show, and please share this

85

:

episode with a friend, your

co-op, or anyone who needs it.

86

:

They'll be glad you did.

87

:

Now, back to the show.

88

:

You may look at your life sometimes

and just really wonder just,

89

:

you know, how did I get here?

90

:

And I have noticed there are

three ways life can get chaotic.

91

:

The first way is what I call camping.

92

:

That means that's when you

signed up to be here, and you

93

:

have just become overwhelmed.

94

:

It's things that you've wanted to do.

95

:

You signed up and you just keep adding to

the plate and you just get overwhelmed.

96

:

But you asked to be here.

97

:

The second thing I've noticed is

that people wander into places.

98

:

So basically you drifted because

you said yes to too many things

99

:

and you just need more boundaries.

100

:

You just keep overcoming, um, things that

you should be saying no to and saying

101

:

yes to things, and you end up kind of

drifting off of the path that you were

102

:

on, and that can lead to overwhelm.

103

:

The third thing I've noticed is

that people get into situations

104

:

because they basically crash there.

105

:

There's unexpected crisis or

transitions that create some

106

:

unfortunate circumstances.

107

:

Now, no matter what is on your plate

and no matter what your jungle is

108

:

made of, it is very critical that

you are clear about your priorities.

109

:

Anthony and I do an annual planning

meeting and we discuss what is the

110

:

one thing we can do in each category

of life for the next year so that

111

:

we can go to the next level of

thriving, and we only include one

112

:

thing when you're in a real jungle.

113

:

There are some specific priorities

you have, and I looked them up.

114

:

It's finding drinking water, building

a shelter before nightfall, creating

115

:

a weapon or tool for making things

and finding a source of food.

116

:

Your priorities and your faith, your

family, and your finances should be

117

:

focusing on the basics and release any

guilt about any unrealistic expectations.

118

:

You can't do it all.

119

:

That leads us to question number three.

120

:

What is your top priority in

each of these areas of life that

121

:

is essential for your survival?

122

:

So what's your top priority in your faith,

your family, and your finances right now?

123

:

And just list just one thing.

124

:

Your top priority.

125

:

As a woman in business, you need to be

aware that outside of the regular everyday

126

:

challenges in life, there are real

threats and enemies that can take you out.

127

:

In the real jungle, there are

some dangers of falling trees,

128

:

slippery rocks, sunstroke sunburn,

heat, stroke, dehydration disease,

129

:

mosquitoes, and venomous snakes.

130

:

The your dangers are basically anything

that can hinder or kill your faith,

131

:

hurt your family, or ruin your finances.

132

:

For question number four, I want

you to take a moment and just

133

:

identify any threat that you.

134

:

Have thought of that you

need to address today.

135

:

There may be a threat in your family.

136

:

It may be a threat in your, uh, uh,

your finances or a threat in your faith.

137

:

But as we're talking here, something has

come up and I want you to take the time to

138

:

write that down right now 'cause there's

a threat that you need to address and I

139

:

want you to deal with that starting today.

140

:

Now, women entrepreneurs face

unique challenges that can create

141

:

risk in family, faith and finances,

if not carefully navigated.

142

:

So I've got some dangers here

that I want you to take a look at.

143

:

For faith, we've got drifting from God.

144

:

The pursuit of success can lead to

prioritizing work over spiritual

145

:

disciplines like prayer, bible

study, and church involvement.

146

:

Then worldly influences.

147

:

That's the pressure to conform to

secular business standards may lead to

148

:

ethical compromises or a mindset that

prioritizes profit over your integrity.

149

:

You might face an identity

crisis that's it's easy to find

150

:

self-worth in business achievements.

151

:

That's always easy rather than in

Christ leading to pride or insecurity.

152

:

And last isolation from

Christian community.

153

:

Entrepreneurship you already know

can be lonely, and if faith-based

154

:

relationships aren't nurtured, spiritual

accountability and support can fade.

155

:

So I'm so glad that you're

attending this summit today.

156

:

Next, under family, we have

neglecting family relationships.

157

:

The demands of business, constrain

marriages, parenting, and outside

158

:

relationships, like extended

relationships leading to emotional

159

:

distance and lack of quality time.

160

:

There can also be role confusion.

161

:

You know, Anthony and I work

together and I know that balancing

162

:

business and leadership with family

roles can be difficult sometimes

163

:

leading to resentment or guilt.

164

:

That's something you

have to, to watch out.

165

:

We all know that burnout and stress

can be at the top list of dangers, and

166

:

because over overworking can result

in exhaustion, making it harder to pre

167

:

be present and engage with loved ones.

168

:

And one thing that I know a lot

of people are always working

169

:

on is lack of boundaries.

170

:

184

:

newsletter full of tips and support.

185

:

Don't wait.

186

:

Your freedom starts right now.

187

:

Bringing work home constantly can blur the

lines between business and family life,

188

:

making it hard to truly rest and connect.

189

:

Anthony and I have had to create

specific rules that we follow in order

190

:

to keep family and work separate.

191

:

And whenever we follow the rules,

that's great, and if we don't,

192

:

then you know it's not so awesome.

193

:

Dangers in finances include

financial instability.

194

:

One thing is that business revenue

can be unpredictable, leading to

195

:

stress and risky financial decisions.

196

:

Also debt and overinvestment.

197

:

Some of entrepreneurs take on too

much debt too soon, putting personal

198

:

assets and family finances at risk.

199

:

A big danger for women entrepreneurs

is underpricing and overworking.

200

:

Many women struggle to charge what they're

worth, leading to financial strain.

201

:

Despite hard work and

last legal and tax issues.

202

:

Failing to set up proper business

structures, contracts and tax planning

203

:

can also result in costly mistakes.

204

:

So those are a lot of dangers,

but don't worry because I have

205

:

some excellent solutions for you.

206

:

If you feel like you're drifting from

God, I want you to schedule daily

207

:

non-negotiable prayer and Bible study

time just as you would a business meeting.

208

:

If you feel like worldly influences

are a danger, I want you to set clear

209

:

business values rooted in scripture, and

regularly assess decisions against them.

210

:

If you struggle with an identity

crisis, I wanna remind, I want you

211

:

to remind yourself that success

is stewardship, not identity.

212

:

Your worth is in Christ, not in revenue.

213

:

And if you feel isolated from Christian

community, I wanna invite you to

214

:

intentionally connect with a faith-based

business group or accountability partner.

215

:

Next we're gonna talk about

some key family solutions.

216

:

If you feel like you've been neglecting

your family relationships, I want

217

:

you to start by blocking off family

time in your calendar and treat

218

:

it as sacred as work appointments.

219

:

If you are dealing with role confusion,

I want you to communicate openly

220

:

with your spouse and children about

expectations and seek their input

221

:

on balancing responsibilities.

222

:

You know, sometimes people just don't

know what you need, so you just have to

223

:

express it, and that can go a long way.

224

:

If you are dealing with burnout

and stress, I want you to set

225

:

strict work hours and prioritize

rest, including Sabbath days.

226

:

Anthony and I and our kids just

celebrated five years of taking a

227

:

Sabbath every week, and when we started.

228

:

We didn't think we could

even do it, but we did.

229

:

We committed to trying a Sabbath

once a week for a hundred weeks, and

230

:

we said, once we get to a hundred

weeks, we're gonna see if we like it

231

:

and if so, we're gonna keep going.

232

:

And well, of course, a

hundred weeks came and went.

233

:

And now we just celebrated five years.

234

:

And our kids, uh, we asked them if they

wanted to keep going and they said yes.

235

:

They wanna keep that as a

lifestyle habit for our family.

236

:

And so it's been amazing.

237

:

And I wanna invite you to, to

try in, in installing that in

238

:

your life, a weekly status.

239

:

If you're one of the many people that

struggle with lack of boundaries,

240

:

I want you to establish a dedicated

workspace and commit to shutting

241

:

off work after a set time each day.

242

:

That way you can keep your work and your

family separate, and then you don't have

243

:

to feel like you need to be working with

your, when you're with your family, and

244

:

you don't have to feel like you need to

be with your family when you're working.

245

:

Whenever you have those boundaries,

you can feel great all day.

246

:

Now we're gonna go over a

few key finance solutions.

247

:

Financial instability is a danger for you.

248

:

I want you to start with building

an emergency fund to covering

249

:

at least three to six months of

personal and business expenses.

250

:

This is gonna give you a lot

of peace if you are dealing

251

:

with debt and over investment.

252

:

I want you to start lean in your

business and reinvest profits rather than

253

:

taking on large amount of debt upfront.

254

:

And definitely.

255

:

Look at options for doing things

super lean and super simple, and

256

:

not having to overextend yourself.

257

:

There are a lot of ideas that

you can look into for that.

258

:

I love helping people with that.

259

:

Tony Comm 2: Hey, I hope

you're enjoying the show.

260

:

We'll get right back to the

discussion, but I do want to talk

261

:

high level with you real quick.

262

:

You see, transforming your

finances so you can self-fund your

263

:

homeschooling journey without a nine

to five job takes a roadmap, right?

264

:

And you may be wondering,

where do I even start?

265

:

Start at step one.

266

:

Our Homeschool Money Makeover

program breaks it down into five

267

:

practical steps that help any family

achieve a financially abundant.

268

:

Homeschooling lifestyle.

269

:

Step one, install the

abundance Operating system.

270

:

Most people believe that they

need two, nine to five jobs to

271

:

make it in America the truth.

272

:

With all the technology and the tools

available today, there's never been an

273

:

easier time to generate six figures.

274

:

A year in income working just 15

to 20 hours a week than today.

275

:

When you have a strong why for

homeschooling and you know the

276

:

real costs, you unlock the courage

that you need to become a money

277

:

magnet without a nine to five job.

278

:

Step two, get crystal clear about what

you're gonna do with your first $1,000

279

:

that you make outside of your day job.

280

:

Write down specific homeschool needs

that a thousand dollars can cover.

281

:

Yes, this is a small amount, but if

you can learn how to set a target

282

:

of make your first thousand dollars

outside of your nine to five job,

283

:

that's going to set a fire in your belly

and the determination that you need.

284

:

To make the next a

hundred thousand dollars.

285

:

Step three, find all the money

falling through the cracks in

286

:

your budget with Crystal's.

287

:

Three financial coaching certifications.

288

:

Listen, she's gonna help you be able to

streamline your budget and free up money

289

:

without sacrificing your favorite things.

290

:

You can't build a strong financial

future with money falling

291

:

through your pockets, right?

292

:

So let's plug up the leaks.

293

:

Step four.

294

:

Discover new ways to make money

and claim free money available

295

:

for homeschooling families.

296

:

We discuss grants scholarships,

proven fundraising opportunities

297

:

If you have been underpricing and

overworking, I want you to research

328

:

your industry and look at the pricing

and confidently charge rates that

329

:

reflect the value that you provide.

330

:

If you are being bogged down with

legal or tax issues, I want you to

331

:

consult a financial advisor and ensure

your business is set up with proper

332

:

legal protections and tax strategies.

333

:

That's way you don't have problems

later that you could have prevented now.

334

:

Now, when I think of.

335

:

The show I shouldn't be alive, I the

actual jungle or dealing with the

336

:

everyday challenges of being a successful

woman entrepreneur who serves clients,

337

:

bullying, uh, while being a loving

wife, nurturing mother, and has time

338

:

to walk with Jesus in every moment.

339

:

I don't usually think of

the word grace, actually.

340

:

I think of busy hustle, overwhelm,

and how am I gonna do it all

341

:

while at the same time being a

hundred percent happy to do it all.

342

:

Now I'm happy because I'm doing exactly

what I wanted to do, and at the same time,

343

:

I acknowledge the level of investment

that everything inquire requires.

344

:

This is how I experience peace,

and that's what I hope for you too.

345

:

So I've pulled out the

definition of greats and I want

346

:

you to check it out with me.

347

:

The first definition is unmerited,

divine assistance given to humans for

348

:

their regeneration or sanctification.

349

:

That sounds amazing to me.

350

:

The second definition I thought was

interesting was ease and suppleness

351

:

of movement or bearing, and the

example was danced with such grace.

352

:

When you think of grace in the

jungle, I want you to think about

353

:

that unmerited, divine assistance

that's available for you.

354

:

And I also want you to think about how

you're walking through your day-to-day

355

:

activities and are you doing it?

356

:

With such grace that it's with

ease and suppleness of movement

357

:

and bearing, or does it look, uh,

frustrating and hard, or do you feel

358

:

like it's, it is just a struggle?

359

:

We should actually be experiencing

it, experiencing it as ease

360

:

and suppleness because we are

doing what God called us to do.

361

:

Second Corinthians 12, nine says,

but he said to me, my grace is

362

:

sufficient for you, for my power

is made perfect in weakness.

363

:

Therefore, I will boast all the

more gladly about my weaknesses so

364

:

that Christ's power may rest on me.

365

:

Now, I want you to really

meditate on this scripture.

366

:

You are a leader, and not only do

you have to take care of yourself,

367

:

but your family and your team are

depending on you, but you were not

368

:

built to carry all this weight alone.

369

:

You'll only start to thrive when

you acknowledge the great tasks that

370

:

you have received from God himself.

371

:

While you receive that task, I also

want you to receive the rest that

372

:

he's already made available for you.

373

:

This is how you're going to accomplish

every task that you've set out to do.

374

:

Now, I hope that you answered the four

questions that I asked you, because if

375

:

you do that, they're gonna unlock the next

level of action that you need to take.

376

:

I love to to know what is the next step?

377

:

What is the one next thing I need to

do, uh, for my level of faithfulness.

378

:

So after you've answered those four

questions, the one thing I want you

379

:

to leave knowing today is that though

there are a thousand tips, tricks,

380

:

and techniques you can employ to

strengthen your faith, your family, or

381

:

your finances, the only true advice I

can give you is to lean on the Lord.

382

:

So one question I ask myself every

day is, is this a moment that I

383

:

need to trust the Lord, or is this a

moment where I need to be obedient?

384

:

That helps me make a lot of decisions

and experience a lot of peace.

385

:

So you have invested in yourself by taking

the time to listen to this message today,

386

:

and I'm so thankful that you are here Now.

387

:

I am telling you as your friend,

that God's grace is sufficient for

388

:

the vision that he's given you.

389

:

And when your faith is tested,

do like I do, ask yourself, do I

390

:

need to be trusting or obeying?

391

:

Which area do I need

to focus on right now?

392

:

Because trusting or and obeying

is what's gonna get you focused on

393

:

what your next step needs to be.

394

:

If you currently have a family member

that is struggling, I want you to

395

:

remember that they belong to God.

396

:

I want you to always remember that

God loves you, he loves your family,

397

:

and he has them, and it's not your

job to carry the weight of everything.

398

:

I want you to remember that His grace

is sufficient for you in your faith,

399

:

in your family, and in your finances.

400

:

Now, Anthony and I have a

personal goal of providing trusted

401

:

guidance to everyone who ask.

402

:

I hope that today you are encouraged

to remember that you can experience

403

:

more peace, more calm and ease,

especially as you walk in faithfulness

404

:

by leaning on God's strength,

not your own to carry the weight.

405

:
