What if you never had to say,
we can't afford that educational
2
:opportunity ever again?
3
:Today's affirmation will shift
your energy from educational
4
:limitation to educational abundance.
5
:Let's start the show.
6
:Intro: A fast growing number
of parents are starting their
7
:homeschooling journey while others
have been homeschooling for years.
8
:All of these parents are asking one big
question, how can I afford to homeschool?
9
:We are here to answer that
important question once and for all.
10
:Hi, I'm Crystal Obby.
11
:And I'm Anthony Obby.
12
:We've been homeschooling our five
kids for 13 years and we funded it.
13
:Through our online consulting business
that we've been running for over 17
14
:years now, we're combining Crystal's
financial coaching expertise with my
15
:digital marketing background where I help
entrepreneurs launch and sell online.
16
:We're here to help fellow homeschooling
parents self-fund their homeschool
17
:journey and create lifestyle businesses.
18
:For financial freedom without a nine to
five job, are you ready to start living
19
:life on your own terms and make your
homeschooling experience a lot more fun?
20
:Well then sit back, crank up
the volume, and enjoy this
21
:episode of Homeschool Money.
22
:Hey guys.
23
:Welcome to the Homeschool Money podcast.
24
:I'm your host, Anthony Oby.
25
:I'm Crystal Oby, and we have an
exciting affirmation for you today.
26
:This affirmation goes like this.
27
:I am an educational investment magnet.
28
:Money flows to me to fund my
children's educational dreams.
29
:I easily attract the resources
needed for field trips, quality
30
:curriculum, educational experiences,
and enriching activities.
31
:My family's educational goals are fully
supported by abundant financial resources.
32
:This affirmation really matters
because educational opportunities a
33
:lot of times come with price tags and
hesitating due to money limits your
34
:child's potential when you become
a magnet for educational funding.
35
:You remove financial barriers from
your children's learning journey
36
:and open doors to experiences that
could shape their entire future.
37
:I am an educational investment magnet.
38
:Money flows to me to fund my
children's educational dreams.
39
:I easily attract the resources
needed for field trips, quality
40
:curriculum, educational experiences,
and enriching activities.
41
:My family's educational goals are fully
supported by abundant financial resources.
42
:So when we were getting ready to do
this episode, we were talking about
43
:how this kind of plays out in our life,
and it made me think about how one of
44
:the biggest resources we have is how
I take the kids to the park and hang
45
:out with other moms that are co-ops.
46
:And that's probably been one of the
biggest opportunities that we've had here
47
:in our homeschooling journey as far as
finding more educational opportunities.
48
:And so.
49
:At the beginning of the school year,
what I do is I write down what we
50
:want the kids to do, like if there's
some places we want to go or some
51
:activities we wanna take part in.
52
:Or just anything that we're wanting
to do to enhance our educational
53
:journey in any type of year.
54
:And I just keep that list.
55
:And then whenever I go to the park
and take the kids and I'm sitting
56
:there talking to the moms and
everything, we always compare notes.
57
:And so it's like, okay, does anybody know
anything about how I can, you know, help
58
:my kid learn this or figure this out?
59
:And it's so fun to hang
out with other moms because
60
:everybody's doing the same thing.
61
:It's a really.
62
:You know, just amazing experience
to have other moms in your life
63
:who are on the same journey and
are really, you know, helpful.
64
:And so what I find is my friends will,
they'll be looking out for things.
65
:They'll say, Hey, I heard that your son
is into this and I was at this other
66
:event and I picked up a flyer and took a
picture of it and I'm gonna send to you
67
:so that you can get this for your kid.
68
:There's not a lot of gatekeeping.
69
:If you get into the right
groups and have really great
70
:friends, you're gonna find that.
71
:Everybody is trying to get better things
for their kids, and they'll be willing
72
:to share those experiences with you.
73
:And so some of the moms would tell
me about things I hadn't thought of.
74
:Like for example, if one of my kids
was in interested in dance and I'm just
75
:thinking, oh, I'm gonna do the typical
dance classes and things like that.
76
:There's some people who.
77
:Uh, keep their eye open for activities.
78
:And we had one friend that actually
ended up hosting a dance event and
79
:just putting it together because one
thing that has been happening is if
80
:we wanna do something and it's not
actually even on the calendar, the moms
81
:will just put it together ourselves.
82
:And so it's not just about being
able to have something to do
83
:that is already scheduled and
having to have the money for it.
84
:It's also about having the resources to be
able to just make it happen for yourself.
85
:Sometimes our conversations lead
us to just planning it, doing it
86
:ourselves, and then inviting other
kids in and other families in.
87
:1 Comm: Hey, real quick, if you're liking
the show, hit follow so you don't miss

what topics you'd like us to cover.
90

the show, and please share this
91
:episode with a friend, your
co-op, or anyone who needs it.
92
:They'll be glad you did.
93
:Now, back to the show.
94
:A big part of being an educational
investment magnet is sharing what you're
95
:looking for and knowing what you're
looking for, and that's what we talk
96
:about that in our Homeschool Money
Makeover program is because if you
97
:are focused on and clear on what it is
that you want, then when you're having
98
:conversations and the topic comes up to.
99
:Something that you're interested
in, you can actually say, oh
100
:yes, I'm interested in that.
101
:Oh yes, I'd like to do that.
102
:And a lot of times,
opportunities come very quickly.
103
:There's some times where, you know,
maybe we, 'cause we have, you know, five
104
:kids, and so we'll have five tickets
or seven tickets to go someplace.
105
:So if we can't go.
106
:If we say, Hey, our family can't go,
that's a lot of times worth two families.
107
:You know, one family with three people,
and one family with four people can
108
:take our spot and say you're wanting
to go to a performance that's happened
109
:before where there's a performance
going on and somebody has extra tickets
110
:that they not gonna be able to use.
111
:Because you know what you're looking for.
112
:You can say, Hey, I wanna go ahead and
take that, and you take it last minute.
113
:And that happens a lot.
114
:Online with social media, people will post
and say, Hey, I have leftover tickets.
115
:I'm not gonna be able to use them.
116
:You can take them and so you can
end up with tickets to things and.
117
:Opportunities and resources if you're
clear about what it is you want.
118
:And also, of course, here on the show
we talk about just making more money to
119
:be able to afford to do what you want.
120
:But many times the opportunities can
just come right to you if you are aware.
121
:Of what you're looking for.
122
:And you also share that with other people.
123
:And whenever you create an
environment with your, with your
124
:friends, your neighbors, your co-ops,
where everybody's doing that, then
125
:everybody's kids are getting a better
experience in the whole community.
126
:I am an educational investment magnet.
127
:Money flows to me to fund my
children's educational dreams.
128
:I easily attract the resources
needed for field trips, quality
129
:curriculum, educational experiences,
and enriching activities.
130
:My family's educational goals are fully
supported by abundant financial resources.
131
:So there's a common block.
132
:The resistance here often comes
from feeling guilty about spending
133
:money on education when free options
exist, or like believing that good
134
:education shouldn't cost money.
135
:This making do mentality, quote unquote,
keeps you from investing in your
136
:children's highest potential and limits
their exposure to excellent resources that
137
:could be better and uplevel your child,
your children's educational experience.
138
:Yeah, I like to say what would
be the best case scenario?
139
:Like if we want our kids to learn
something, what's the best case scenario?
140
:What's the best opportunity available?
141
:Yeah.
142
:And if we can get it, let's get it.
143
:And if we can't, okay, then
what's the next best opportunity?
144
:Yeah.
145
:And then.
146
:Keep working our way down.
147
:And in some topics you're gonna
wanna go for the ultimate best.
148
:Like if it's their real passion,
you wanna go go to the top.
149
:But if it's something they're
kind of dibbling and dabbling in,
150
:then you can say, Hey, we can just
stick our toe in and we don't have
151
:to have the best of everything.
152
:'cause there are different levels.
153
:And whenever you think about investing in
your child's education, you have to make.
154
:Concession someplace, there's trade-offs
and so there may be times where you
155
:need a bigger budget to go all in.
156
:Like I know a lot of people in their,
their kids' sports, they do, they
157
:spend a lot of money in that, or
instruments and music or, you know,
158
:just different hobbies that they have
that could actually turn into something.
159
:You wanna go all in and get all the
equipment that they need, the, the
160
:teaching, the tutoring that they need,
and give them plenty of time and take
161
:them on the trips that they need to go on.
162
:And don't feel bad about doing that
because one thing that's for sure is
163
:the better quality education that you
give your child while they're young,
164
:the better outcome they'll have later.
165
:Because if you go ahead and
invest into them now, they'll
166
:be set up to do better later.
167
:And so whenever they're working
hard as younger, young kids and
168
:then teenagers, they're gonna be.
169
:That much farther ahead when they're
18, 19, 20, and be able to build
170
:careers off of what they're doing.
171
:I know we talk to people who do tutoring.
172
:And sometimes we'll talk to people who
are maybe 25, 30 years old and they've
173
:been saying, well, I'm tutoring because
I've been doing this for 15 years.
174
:And it's like, well,
how old are you again?
175
:Yeah.
176
:And they're like, well, I, I started doing
this whenever I was a, a, you know, a
177
:teenager and now I'm a young adult, and
they're running full tutoring businesses
178
:because they have the expertise, they
have the professionalism, and now they're
179
:creating full incomes because of that.
180
:And a lot of people.
181
:We'll not have those skills whenever
they're in their twenties, and so they're
182
:just kind of flip flopping around, still
trying to figure out what they're good at.
183
:But here in homeschooling we get a chance
to invest in our children's passions
184
:and their skills so much earlier and
even let them go to college earlier.
185
:To where whenever they're young adults,
they can be very financially set up and
186
:clear on their passions, their goals, and
just the direction that they wanna take
187
:life, which also gives them a lot better
mental health and better time to work on
188
:relationships and their physical health.
189
:And so homeschooling is just helps
on so many different levels and
190
:going ahead and investing in the
better pencils or the, the, the, the
191
:nice class or the full curriculum.
192
:Right now, while the child is
young can just make all the
193
:difference for their adulthood.
194
:That's right.
195
:Money flows to me to fund my children's
educational dreams, I easily attract
196
:the resources needed for field trips.
197
:Quality curriculum, educational
experiences, and enriching activities.
198
:My family's educational goals are fully
supported by abundant financial resources.
199
:You didn't choose to homeschool to give
your children a mediocre education.
200
:You chose to give them
an extraordinary one.
201
:Money is simply the tool that turns
educational dreams into reality.
202
:Trust that when you invest in
your children's minds, you always
203
:have the opportunity to grow
in your ability to pay for it.
